Ruby Bates

Ruby Bates, born January 12, 1931, passed away July 19, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Carl, her four daughters and their husbands , Becky (Larry), Barbara (Charlie), Beverly (Carl), and Bonnie (Rick), her two granddaughters, Vanessa & Andrea and their husbands, four step grandchildren, (Ryan, Mandy, Mark and Tyler) & three great grandchildren, Nathan, Madison, and Drake, eight step great grandchildren, (Morgan, Matthew, Lauren, Leah, Tyler, Jaeden, Levi and Milli). Ruby Bates was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, to her husband, four daughters and grandchildren. Ruby was happiest when surrounded by her family. She instilled the love of adventure and travel which inspired her throughout her life. She loved celebrating birthdays, holidays, and especially Christmas. Most of the last nearly 46 years, she lived on her beloved ranch in Morrison, CO with views to the mountain meadows, elk, deer, birds and horses. Ruby loved flowers and surrounded herself with beauty. Her adventurous spirit and love of travel took her and Carl around the world. Together with her husband and sometimes the whole family, she visited nearly all 50 US states & traveled to Europe, Great Britain, Scotland, Scandinavia, Greece, Hong Kong, China & New Zealand. .She was an artist, decorator, and had a creative spirit. Ruby shared her love of these things with her family and friends. Ruby loved to sing and listen to a wide variety of music which she played throughout the day. She will live on in the hearts and memories of all the lives she touched and those who love her. Ruby Ridinger was born in Byers, CO. She attended school in Littleton, CO. All seven of her siblings have predeceased her. She met Carl Bates in high school and they married while she was a student at Denver University in 1949. They traveled around the US for two and a half years until 1952 when she became pregnant with Becky at which time they made their home in Denver. Ruby was a homemaker & business partner with her husband in C W Bates Construction. She handled the accounts for the business and drew the plans for the custom homes he built until the girls got older, then completed her degree in Computer systems and worked for the National Parks Service as a computer systems analyst until her retirement. She traveled and hosted neighborhood picnics and celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary as well as many holidays with family and friends in the mountains at the Ranch. Carl & Ruby were happily married nearly 70 years.
