Alisa Phelan was born July 8th, 1973 in Monterey, CA. At birth, she rushed into her new world in record time, with almost no labor to speak of. That was the beginning of a life that started out "so special", and those two words would continue to define her through the various stages of her life. Alisa dealt with very severe asthma as a child and adolescent. In high school, she became a foreign exchange student and spent a year in Iceland. It proved to be a remarkable experience, made even more so by her lack of asthma symptoms. Her move to Denver proved likewise in that with no asthma symptoms she was literally "cured" of her disease. Alisa defied the lifelong prognosis her Doctor had given her. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with both BS/MS in Kinesiology.
Alisa "Inhaled life and Exhaled love" in the ways that she lived and as she matured and interacted with everyone she met. To be greeted with a radiant smile and genuine interest was such a welcoming experience. Her persona became intertwined with a beauty to behold on the outside and a heart of sincere kindness and compassion on the inside. She loved meeting new people and exploring new places with sights and sounds to satisfy her zest for life. Her infectious laughter was so spontaneous and so easy to elicit. Alisa always tried to stay grounded in life, in her spiritual beliefs and practices, and with developing her soul to its fullest potential as being her goal. Her love for both people and animals alike was evidenced by her care, concern, and comfort to all in need. Alisa struggled mightily for years with a disease, trying as best she could to not reveal to others, which ultimately ended her life.
She was preceded in death by her cousin Ethan.
Survived by her mother, Diane, father, Tom, Uncles Mark, Matt, Mike, Steve and Jim, Aunts Leslie, Mary Jane, Theresa, and cousins Matthew, Kate, Ryan, Rachel, Anna, Rachel, and Makayla.
