Raymond Sandoval Sr., MSGT US Army, passed away on January 28, 2020 at the age of 73 years old. He was a resident of Aurora, Colorado. Raymond was born on June 30, 1946 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Manuel Sandoval Sr. and Otilla Ann Gonzales. Raymond was a 1964 graduate of West Las Vegas High School.
A graduate of St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in 1966, Raymond enlisted in the US Army as a medic. He was awarded the Bronze Medal and Commendation Medal for heroism in combat while serving in Vietnam. Raymond retired after 22 years of faithful service to his country. He worked at the Denver Veterans Administration Hospital where he continued serving other veterans in the dialysis unit and other specialty areas. Throughout his military career, Raymond achieved multiple college degrees. He always stressed the need to further one’s education and was quite the education mentor.
Raymond and his wife enjoyed traveling.
Raymond is preceded in death by his Sons- Raymond Kodiak and David Sandoval; Grandson- Raymond A. M. Sandoval: Parents- Manuel Sandoval Sr., and Otilla Ann Gonzales Sandoval; Brother- Jerry Michael Sandoval; Maternal Grandmother- Margarita Gonzales, and numerous extended family relatives.
Raymond is survived by his Wife- Luisa Sandoval; two Sons- Edwin Sandoval and Chris Sandoval (Angela); and his Grandchildren. He is also survived by his Brothers- Manuel Sandoval Jr. (Amanda), James Sandoval (Alice), Levi Sandoval (Rufina); his Sisters- Arabella Sandoval Gallegos (Ernest) and Patricia Sandoval Vigil; and many extended family members.
Private funeral and burial services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
