David Raymond VanDaele's Obituary
David R. VanDaele, loving brother and uncle, passed away on September 16 at the age of 61. Dave was born in Moline, Illinois. He graduated high school in Peoria, Illinois and settled in the Denver, Colorado area where he lived and worked for nearly 40 years. Dave was a long-time employee at Awning Company of America where he became skilled at customizing canvas covers, awnings and "specialty" bags that he created from scrap pieces of canvas - EVERYONE had one or more of his "Dave" bags! Dave developed strong bonds and relationships with his Denver family - sister Joni, brother-in-law Robert, nephew Daniel, niece Elyse, great nephew Milo, and people who Dave was proud to call his friends. He was lovingly known to everyone (including his friends' children) as Uncle Dave. He loved the Denver Broncos and rarely missed an opportunity to gather with family to cheer them on and share great football food. He was proud of his vegetable garden and tended to many plants he proudly displayed on his apartment balcony along with the American flag. Dave will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile and his kind, compassionate spirit. Dave was preceded in death by his father James, mother Connie, brother-in-law Craig, cousin Joe, niece Michelle, Aunt Kay and Uncles Bob and Tom. He is survived by his siblings Vicki, Chris, Jim, Jeanne, Joni and Therese along with several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Celebration of Life was held September 25 in Englewood, Colorado for his Denver family and friends. An additional Celebration of Life will be held in Illinois at a later date.
