Isaac was a close friend from 7th through 9th grade. He was quiet around most people, but once he got comfortable with you, his true personality came out. He had this way of being brutally honest, but always from a place of caring. I loved his sense of humor most of all. It was sharp, real, and always made you laugh.
I still have a picture of him from our freshman English class. I wasn’t exactly the best student and would ditch most of the time, and whenever I actually showed up, he’d give me so much crap for it. He’d tell me I was going to waste my life away if I didn’t put in the effort and he was right. But he never said it to be mean; it always came from a place of concern.
I’m grateful I got to know that side of him and wish I had stayed in touch as life took us in different directions. Much love and healing to him, his wife, and his son.
