Larry George Kambouris' Obituary
Larry George Kambouris passed away on January 29th, 2024, in his home in Aurora, Colorado. Born to George and Evelyn Kambouris on April 27th, 1964, in Flagstaff, Arizona. Larry was a cherished son, brother, and friend.
He grew up with his siblings, Sharon, Gary, and Stephen in Colorado Springs, Colorado and became a proud graduate of Widefield High School in 1982. Shortly afterwards, Larry moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he spent the majority of his life.
In 1986, Larry proudly served his country by joining the United States Navy as an ABE3 and often reminisced about his time at Sea while working on the flight deck of the USS Ranger Carrier Vessel 61.
In 1990, following an honorable discharge from the Navy, Larry began what would become a 32-year career with the United States Postal Service as a mail handler.
Larry married the love of his life, Lisa, on a beautiful spring Day on May 17th, 2020. The fall of that same year, they packed up their belongings and moved to Colorado where he continued his career with the U.S. Postal Service in Denver as a Field Maintenance Operator. Together, he and his wife bought a beautiful home, and it was there that he lived his remaining years filled with love and laughter.
Larry approached life as something to be enjoyed to the fullest. Growing up working in his family restaurant, his culinary skills were enjoyed by all who knew him, including his barbecued ribs, and Lisa's personal favorite, his spaghetti with Italian sausage. He loved the outdoors and often shared his dream of owning acres of land in Durango, Colorado and "riding the fences" every morning. Larry was also somewhat of a mentor. He loved to surround himself with younger people and give them life advice.
Predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Gary and Eugene, Larry's Legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Lisa Kambouris; his brother, Geroge Kambouris, Jr.; his sister, Sharon Pierce; his brother, Stephen Kambouris; his sister-in-law, Gena Kambouris; his stepson, Ryan Marquez from a previous marriage, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Larry is also survived by former spouses: Angela, Bridgette Grey, and Alesia Garcia Kambouris.
Larry will be laid to rest with military honors on February 6th, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 4400 West Kenyon Avenue in Denver, Colorado. A reception for immediate family will follow at the Kambouris home, where stories will be shared, and memories cherished.
Larry will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, and friend. His dry wit, sense of humor, and laughter he brought to every gathering will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
