Ralph Gerald Murphy's Obituary
Ralph Gerald Murphy loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather of Denver, Colorado, passed away on June 12, 2023 in Littleton, Colorado.
Ralph "Murph" was born in Bowie, Texas to Dennis Murphy and Lorene Stroud Murphy on January 20, 1935. Murph went to high school at San Angelo High School and graduated in 1953. He served in the Army stationed at Fitsimmons Army hospital from June 1957 to June 1959 where he met the first love of his life Jonette Keating. After the Army, he went on to get his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas where he became a diehard Long Horn for life.
He also went on to get his Master's degree in Education from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
He worked as a Denver Public School Teacher, Counselor, Vice Principal for 30 years and retired exactly at 55.
Murph enjoyed playing Tennis, Basketball, playing card games, traveling the country and world with his family.
He was a big practical joker, so April 1st was his favorite "holiday" playing jokes on his friends and family.
Murph preceded in death by his wife Sonia, is survived by his daughter Denise De Leo of Parker, son Michael Murphy (Dominique) of Centennial, son Patrick Murphy (Jennie) of Denver. Grandsons Ryan De
Leo (Kelsey) of Castle Rock, Luke and Joseph Murphy of Centennial and Granddaughter Claire Murphy of Dublin. Great grandchildren Wyatt and Harper De Leo of Castle Rock and many extended family members around the country.
A funeral service will be held at Eisenhower Church in Lowry on June 26th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the next day at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. with full honor guard.
Memorial donations may be made to Rocky Mountain ALS Association.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Lumicare Hospice for their guidance and compassion and of course his many wonderful friends and colleagues that have been such an important part of his life, he loved you all so.
