Sally Ann Piltz's Obituary
Sally Ann Piltz, 70, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 29, 2026, after struggling with health issues for several years. Her husband of 52 years, Danny, was with her at her side as she passed.
Sally was born on August 3, 1955, in California, to Nancy and Charles Berringer. She was their fourth and final child, and their first and only daughter. Charles’ work led the family to move around the country over the years, and they eventually settled in Colorado. As the youngest child and only daughter in the family, Sally was lovingly doted on by her three big brothers, Dave, Bruce, and Terry. She cherished her brothers, their spouses, and their children. She loved her parents dearly and was especially close to her mother. They would talk on the phone at least once a day and made it a point to see each other weekly. Sally was devastated when her mother passed away in 2000, followed by her father in 2001. She lovingly shared many stories of her parents with her own grandchildren over the years.
Sally attended Holy Family High School in Denver, where she met her future husband, Daniel Piltz. Danny graduated in 1972 and Sally graduated in 1973. The high school sweethearts were married on June 16, 1974. They welcomed their first of five daughters, Andrea, in 1980, followed by Kelly in 1983, Rachel in 1986, Sandra in 1990, and Jennifer in 1993. In addition to loving her five girls with all her heart, she often shared her sadness at the loss of one pregnancy in 1982.
Sally was a stay-at-home mom for decades while Danny worked two full-time jobs to support the family financially. She had a natural talent for cooking and was often asked by family and friends for her secret ingredients. Eventually, she began working again. She worked in an elementary school cafeteria and was proud to call herself the “lunch lady”. Later, she worked various jobs as a deli clerk, in retail, and eventually found her way to Costco where she offered food samples and sold water filters. She enjoyed working, making friends, and socializing with customers.
Sally’s pride and joy were her five daughters and their families. She lovingly welcomed all her sons-in-law to the family and enjoyed making them laugh. She was blessed with nine incredible grandchildren and was always thrilled to celebrate their birthdays, attend their activities and school events, and enjoyed texting funny gifs to the older kids.
Sally was a free spirit, a self-described party animal, and forever young at heart. She was well-known for her sense of humor and hilarious stories. She enjoyed cooking, horror stories and movies (especially anything written by Stephen King), and 80s music. She always had a soft spot in her heart for kittens and loved her “grand dogs” as well. She will be forever remembered for her limitless love for her family.
Sally is survived by her husband, Danny, her daughters Andrea (Jeremy) Kron, Kelly Piltz, Rachel (Dan) Orion, Sandra (Jason) Vukov, Jennifer (James) Mattingley, her nine grandchildren, her three older brothers, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy and Charles Berringer.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Eisenhower Chapel in Denver. A separate reception will be planned and shared with close family and friends at a later time.
