She is survived by her youngest sister Rachael (Robles) Suarez. Carmen met and married Pete Munoz in 1951 and began a grand and wonderful family of 5 children, David, Frances, Lisa, Patricia and Pete junior. Carmen was then blessed with 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Carmen grew up in a time where a woman's place was in the home. She made a home her castle, her passion was sewing from curtains to clothes for her children. This was her top skill but not the only one. She had different skills that made her home environment comfortable and beautiful. Carmen also had artistic talents, one of drawing and painting. She also enjoyed bowling where she led her team with a perfect score which gave the team a win.
As her children got older and the time of the 1960's she began her activism in the schools and become a part of the first Hispanic advisory council to help improve education system in hiring teachers and provide relevant classes for minority students. She was instrumental and had the energy to push an agenda to be heard for underrepresented students. Her mission continued by becoming involved in politics and holding caucuses and campaigned to promote candidates that would help those that were underrepresented.
She continued by becoming involved with the archdiocese of Denver. She touched many lives by becoming a marriage counselor, giving advice and support to couples getting married or divorced.
As time went on, she became a grandmother and had the benefit of being loved by her family.
She made an impact in many lives and will be remembered by many as a feisty, opinionated and strong woman.
Carmen Munoz was a remarkable person who possesed many talents and contributed to this world to make it better for not hers but all children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
