Carol Alice Sherbondy White's Obituary
Carol Sherbondy White 87 of Aurora, CO passed away peacefully at home with family around her early on May 31, 2023.
Carol Compton was born December 27, 1935 in Omaha, NE to Alice (Davis) and Luther Compton. She grew up in Omaha and met her husband at the First Baptist Church of Benson, NE. She worked as an administrative assistant at various companies such as a mobile home company in Kansas City, the American Baptist Convention in Valley Forge, PA, the Church of the Brethren General in Elgin, Il and the Quaker Oats Research in Barrington, IL. She volunteered at numerous organizations including CASA for child advocates in legal matters, Friends of Judson College, taught typing skills for Opportunities Industrialization Center near Philadelphia, hosted international guests for Willow Creek pastor conferences, and a number of others.
She was married to Robert Sherbondy and had 3 sons, Steven, Dana and Russell. She was later married to Charles White and together they enjoyed 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. They enjoyed many traditions at holiday gatherings and throughout the year. This included a 30 year tradition of a Croquet Championship of an all day party with many family and friends playing some competitive croquet including playoffs and wonderful food. The winner had their name engraved on the honorable plaque proudly displayed in their home. Annual family camping and other traditions will be remembered for many years. She always loved a party and was an excellent cook and engaging host!
Carol's faith and love for Christ was exemplified in their open home policy for holiday dinners, their outreach to those in need and their care and support of family and friends. Carol was a member of various Baptist churches and later Willow Creek and Brethren churches with Charles.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Kathy Peterson (Richard) , Jean Messenger, William Compton (Evelyn).
She is survived by her sons Steven (Donna), Dana (Dawn), Russell (Mary), 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
