Donald James Weiss' Obituary
Donald James Weiss, 66, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026.
Born on July 15, 1959, in Bethlehem, Donald was the beloved son of Sandra (Young) Weiss of Stroudsburg and the late James S. Weiss.
Donald graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1977, after which he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he studied avionics. He later continued his education at Penn State Worthington Scranton, where he studied Electrical Engineering Technology. Donald went on to pursue a career in Electronic Technology.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, the U.S. Air National Guard, and the Army Reserves. He carried deep pride in his military service throughout his life.
A gifted athlete from a young age, Donald participated in youth baseball and football and was also a member of the Pocono Boys Choir. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors, especially fishing, canoeing, hiking, and skiing, which ultimately inspired his move to Colorado, where he found great joy in the mountains and natural beauty.
Donald’s only child, Ashley, was born in 1995. He loved being a father to her, and dedicated himself fully to making sure she had a wonderful life. He incorporated his thirst for knowledge, adventure, and education into raising his daughter, as well as instilling his values into her. Ashley and Don shared a very special bond that both of them cherished immensely throughout the course of her life. He always encouraged Ashley to try her hardest, be kind to others, and never stop learning. He was an attentive and caring father, and a good-hearted man.
Donald is survived by his loving daughter, Ashley Weiss Smith and her husband, George Smith, of Scotland; his mother, Sandra Weiss; and his brothers, Douglas Weiss and his wife, Angela, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and Gary Weiss and his wife, Diana, also of Stroudsburg. He is also survived by his cherished nieces, Denna Matergia and her husband, Michael, of Denver, and Rachel Brick and her husband, Andrew, of West Chester, as well as his great-nephew, Drew Brick.
